Maria Smith is a lifelong avid reader. Her favorite things to read are romance, mystery, horror, fiction, non-fiction, and satire, so basically everything. She loves to read in different formats, including short books, long books, paperbacks, and hard covered books.
The reason behind Maria’s love for reading is because reading taught her the English language. When asked about her love for reading, she states, “I came to the United States at the age of 5 only speaking Spanish and I remember my kindergarten teacher telling me that if I wanted to learn the language and perfect it I had to read. The very first book I ever opened that showed me the true meaning of words was a dictionary. From that day, I fell in love with reading and every word that comes with it.”
Maria Smith was born in San Jose, Costa Rica and currently resides in Mattapan, MA with her husband and two sons. She attended Johnson and Wales University North Miami Campus, where she successfully obtained an AS in Baking and Pastry Arts in 2009 and a BS in Food Service Management with a concentration in Sociology in 2010. In 2018, Maria became a Certified Medical Interpreter in the Spanish language.
